LANYARD, WHISTLE, LAID OR BRAIDED CONSTRUCTION

LANYARD, WHISTLE, LAID OR BRAIDED CONSTRUCTION: The Lanyards shall have loops of different internal diameters at either end. One end shall have an internal diameter of 50 (+ 2 / - 0) mm and the other end shall have an internal diameter of 25 (+ 2 / - 0) mm. The loops shall be formed by securely stitching the loose ends to the lanyard using a sewing thread of matching shade.

Product Details

Foundation Yarn. The yarn used in the manufacture of the item 1 (laid lanyard), the sheath of the item 2 & 3 (braided 


lanyard), and the Turk’s head knot shall be spun, 2 ply, 50 tex, bright acrylic yarn. 


Core Yarn. The core yarn shall be 44 ends of 2/20 acrylic. 


Sewing Thread. The thread to bind and secure the loop ends shall be of a shade matching the yarn of the lanyard. 


Lanyard Colour. When tested in accordance with AS 1580.601.1, the colour of the lanyards shall be a close match (rating not 


exceeding 2) to the lanyard colour standard. 


Laid Lanyard. The strands of the laid lanyard shall be manufactured from the foundation yarn. Two strands shall be dark blue 


and one strand scarlet, laid in the direction as Annex C with 22 to 24 lays per 100 mm. The Turk’s head Knot shall be in the 


braided construction, colour dark blue as specified by the material standard MS 8465- 0056

 

Mono-colour Braided Lanyard. The sheath of the mono-colour lanyards shall be braided on a 24 carrier machine using 4 


yarns in each carrier around the core yarn. The Turk’s Head Knot shall be formed from coreless braid, manufactured on a 16 


carrier machine using 2 yarns in each carrier.


Bi-colour Braided Lanyard. The sheath of the bi-colour lanyards shall be braided on a 24 carrier machine using 4 yarns in each 


carrier to give equal bands of alternative colours as specified by the material standard, around the core yarn. The Turk’s Head 


Knot shall be formed from coreless braid, manufactured on a 16 carrier machine using 2 yarns in each carrier to achieve equal 


bands of alternative colours as presented by the material standard.
